English damsons

Intense and tangy, English damsons have a relatively short season, and are beloved of jam-makers. But the fruit grown for us in Herefordshire by brothers Jake and Rupert Simpson isn’t restricted to the preserving pan; these dark purple fruits also make deep-flavoured pies, crumbles and cobblers and add fruity zing to a creamy semifreddo.
