South Lakes Organic Milk

In 2001, Frank and Lynda Morphet began selling organic milk to local dairymen from their herd of 120 cattle at Swarthmoor Hall Farm. Recognising the potential in their high-quality milk, they began producing organic cheese.

Morphet Farms began supplying Booths in 2003 as the proud supplier of South Lakes Organic Milk which is available across Booths Country.

In 2019 an opportunity arose for Morphet Farms to expand their offerings by supplying conventional milk to Booths Country Stores. Inspired to do something different and unique, they committed to sourcing milk from local family-run farms with grazing cattle.

By 2020, after extensive collaboration with local farmers, they had sourced milk from six farms, all within a six-mile radius of Swarthmoor Hall Farm. These farms share Morphet Farms’ ethos of maintaining high standards of animal welfare, producing quality grass, caring for the land responsibly, and promoting the true meaning of great British farming.

Morphet Farms pride themselves on low land miles, ensuring their milk travels around 60 miles to be processed and then 5 miles to Booths’ central depot to minimise their environmental impact. Their cattle graze freely for a minimum number of months to guarantee they lead healthy, happy lives. They also engage with the community by educating the next generation through the Young Farmers’ Federation and school group talks, promoting sustainable farming practices.
