Black Bee Honey
Black Bee Honey is a collective of beekeepers who make single-origin, 100% British honey.
Founders Chris and Paul began beekeeping in 2010 with hives in their back garden and discovered how mind-blowingly delicious honey tasted straight from the hive. They decided to share this discovery with everyone and nurture a British beekeeping community so customers know exactly who made their honey. Their mission is to keep British honey wild as they believe in nature, craftsmanship and community.
Around half a million tons of honey are sold in the UK every year with an environmental cost. Most of the honey in the UK is imported with a mixture of origins. Black Bee Honey only produce 100% British honey and each jar has the name of the beekeeper and the location stamped on it, so it’s fully traceable.
Chris and Paul were saddened to discover the loss of 98% of wildflower meadows across the UK since the 1930’s. These meadows are vital habitats for honey bees and other pollinators as well as being great for sequestering carbon. The duo understood the importance of reinstating this habitat and vowed to make it integral to Black Bee Honey’s mission.
Black Bee Honey are B Corp Certified and a Living Wage Employer. Since 2020 they have given 2% of their turnover to plant and manage wildflower meadows in partnership with the charity Plantlife. This has helped create a circular business model where every jar bought creates wildflower meadows which in turn helps bees to create honey.
The business has achieved various awards such as:
- Great Taste Award Winner: 1 star and Taste of the West Gold in 2021 for Spring Honey
- Great Taste Award Winner: 2 stars for Summer Honey and Autumn Honey
- Great Taste Award Winner: 1 star for Winter Honey!
