Booths L2P Rider 2024 Adam Slater
Written on March 22nd, 2024
I am currently the store manager at our Garstang Store and have worked for Booths for just short of 30 years.
I am married to Vicky (who deserves a medal for putting up with me) and we have twin 9yr old boys.
How did you get into cycling – any tips for beginners?
I would still class myself as a beginner and definitely a fair-weather cyclist. I really got into it last year when i was lucky enough to take part in the same event with the rest of the booths team.
What’s your favourite cycling snack?
I am still a relative novice and have not really got into the nutrition side of things. So, it is just chocolate and plenty of it.
What’s the one piece of kit that you need for a long ride?
A decent pair of shorts. No one wants a sore backside when you still have plenty of miles to ride
Why are you keen to support Cure Leukaemia by riding the London 2 Paris?
Having been able to take part in some previous events organised by the cure leukaemia team. I have been able to gain an insight into all the great work they do. If we at booths can help while challenging ourselves, then why wouldn’t we!
Who do you admire most and why?
To be honest this is not something I have ever really thought about, which to those who know me will come as no surprise.
However, I admire anyone who pushes themselves to do more, no matter how big or small. A great example is Jonathan on our team who is completing this challenge, as part of his 60th year celebrations. He has never completed anything like this before but wanted to do something special on his big birthday year. Every credit. (and on a child’s bike too).
